Akhil completed his PhD in computational chemistry at IIT Indore in 2022, with Prof. Biswarup Pathak where he worked in the domain of computational heterogenous catalysis and nanoclusters. He then held postdoctoral positions with Prof. Matthias Scheffler at the Fritz-Haber Institute of the Max-Planck Society (2022-2025), where he focused on developing AI-guided workflows for materials discovery, and as a Walter-Benjamin Fellow with Prof. Beate Paulus at Freie University Berlin (2025-2026). He joined CSIR-IICT Hyderabad as Scientist-C in August 2026.
