Open Positions: Project Associates

Our research group at CSIR-IICT is currently expanding, and we have two active openings for Project Associate positions. We are looking for motivated researchers eager to contribute to our ongoing work in computational materials science and AI-guided discovery.

What we look for

We care less about your exact background and more about whether you are interested to work in some of the research areas we work or you want to start something new for which you think our group would be a good fit. Having said that, for administrative and career perspectives, we think both of us will more benefit if you have some background in one of the following areas would be preferable (written not in any preferential order)

• Physical Sciences: Physics, Chemistry, or Materials Science, with experience or a strong interest in computational methods.
• Engineering: Chemical or Materials Engineering, with an interest to develop/apply multiscale computational modelling approaches to chemical or materials systems.
• Computational Sciences: Computer Science, Data Science, or Informatics, with a strong interest in applying AI/ML methods molecular or materials discovery.

As long as you are willing to learn, contribute to the group efforts and communicate clearly, we should be good. Take a look at our group handbook for having a glimpse on the way the group functions. Of course you are always welcome to reach out to a group member or have a short visit to know more about the group.

PhD students

We typically recruit through the department’s regular PhD program which requires own JRF (CSIR/UGC/ICMR/INSPIRE) fellowships. Reach out by email with a short note about why do you think our group would be a good fit and what would you like to work on and a CV, no formal cover letter/SOP are required. Please not that as we are just kicking off, the earliest one can join for PhD in the group would be tentatively January 2027.

Postdocs

At the moment, we do not always have open postdoc positions, but we are glad to help strong applicants apply for their own or institute fellowship if available.

Master’s / undergraduate students

We regularly host thesis and short research projects. Email with your transcript and a brief description on what you are curious about.
