Values
Openness. We share our code and data openly whenever possible, and prioritize open-access publishing whenever funding allows. If we cannot make our work accessible and reproducible for the scientific community, it is not work we are proud to put our names on.
Rigor over speed. A solid, validated result always beats a rushed, flawed one. At the same time, we do not let “perfectionism” become an excuse to never finish or share our findings.
Inclusivity. The mentors and colleagues who have helped me along the way come from widely different cultures, backgrounds, and walks of life. I am commited to pay this back by fostering an equitable, safe, and welcoming environment for everyone, regardless of gender, race, funding source, sexual orientation, religion, or any other aspect of identity.
Kindness & Mutual Support. Good work happens when people lift each other up. We expect everyone in the group to be generous with their help, constructive with their feedback, and kind, both to their peers and to themselves.
Professionalism & Mutual Respect. Working closely under challenging conditions can naturally lead to disagreements. When conflicts arise, whether between peers or with the PI, we will try to address them promptly, constructively, and with utmost courtesy. We treat every member, from visiting interns to postdocs, as independent adult colleagues and expect a high standard of mutual accountability.
Scientific Integrity & Ethics. We adhere strictly to institutional research codes of conduct (such as the CSIR Guidelines on Ethics in Research and Governance).
